What if I move to a new residence within the City of La Verne?

You have 10 days to notify the La Verne Police Department of your change of residence. Go online to get the BOF 4502 CCW License Amendment Form. Complete and sign the form, print and submit it to Sergeant Figueroa at the La Verne Police Department.

What if I move to a new residence outside of the City of La Verne?

You have 10 days to notify the La Verne Police Department of your change of residence. You have a 90 day grace period to apply for a CCW with the jurisdiction of your new residence. CCW’s are NOT transferable. You must surrender your La Verne CCW card to us after you receive your CCW from your new agency.

What if I am in the process already with the LA County Sheriff's Department?

Applicants currently in the process with the LA County Sheriff’s Department, who have already completed the Livescan requirement will remain in their process. Applicants who have not yet completed Livescan would apply with the La Verne Police Department.

Why is Myccw.us conducting the background investigation and not an employee of the La Verne Police Department?

The Department reviewed its staffing conditions and the effects of utilizing a department employee to review and complete a thorough CCW background. The Department found that using an employee (Officer or Investigator) would burden the organization and decrease its service to the community. Using an Investigator would mean they would be spending less time investigating crime reports or solving crimes. Utilizing an Officer would also reduce the time spent on patrol deterring crime or responding to emergency calls. Myccw.us employs certified Investigators, and as a vendor to the Department, Myccw.us files and maintains a CLETS Private Management Control Agreement and FBI CJIS Security Addendum required for background investigations. Myccw.us meets all the safety and security requirements in dealing with protected information. Lastly, during our cost analysis of the time spent by staff to complete the background, the Department found the cost to perform the tasks was significantly higher if performed by a department employee.

Alarm Information

An alarm system can bring you a sense of security and peace of mind. It is an effective crime deterrent with proper installation, adequate training, and regular maintenance.

Alarm systems typically work in the following manner:

When an entry or attempted entry is made into an area, building or room which is monitored by an alarm system, a signal is sent to the alarm’s monitoring center.

Once the monitoring center has determined the police need to respond, they will call the police department which services the address in question.

If you live or own a business in the city of La Verne, and you have an alarm system, you are required to have an alarm permit, pursuant to La Verne Municipal Code 8.28.030.

The purpose of the alarm permit is to regulate the installation and utilization of alarm systems designed for intrusion detection in a building or structure. This ordinance is not applicable to audible alarms affixed to automobiles.
